Charbonnel et Walker, founded in 1875, is one of Britain’s earliest and foremost chocolatiers. On encouragement from Edward VII, (then the Prince of Wales and future King), the company first formed in 1875 as a partnership between Mrs. Walker and Madame Charbonnel. Mme Charbonnel was a skilled chocolatier from the renowned Maison Boissier chocolate house in Paris. The company holds a Royal warrant of appointment from HM The Queen as Chocolate manufacturers.
Charbonnel et Walker are based at No.1 The Royal Arcade, Bond Street, London, not far from their original premises which were at 173 New Bond Street.
The company makes its chocolates at its own factory in Royal Tunbridge Wells, Kent, England. Charbonnel & Walker chocolates are particularly known for their plain dark chocolate made from the finest dark couverture. They choose these quality ingredients to produce an unfailingly high quality chocolate containing high levels of cocoa butter . The higher percentage of cocoa butter, combined with careful confection, gives the chocolate more sheen, a firmer “snap” when broken, and a creamy mellow flavour, imaprting a luscious richness and exceptional silky taste.
Charbonnel et Walkers’ luxurious hand made boxes complete the perfect gift for every occasion. A beautifully presented box of Charbonnel et Walker chocolates is likely to delight any recipient.
