The Carphone Warehouse was the first listed mobile phone company to secure a Royal warrant from HM The Queen in 2006. The company is based in the United Kingdom. Outside of the UK and the Republic of Ireland, the retailer is named The Phone House.
The company was co-founded in 1989 by (current CEO) Charles Dunstone and his old school friend David Ross, a chartered accountant.
Initially the new company was based at Charles Dunstone’s rented London flat on the Marylebone Road. Only four years later, the group had 20 stores in the UK.
